Books in the Story-Driven Campaign

This campaign will tell the story of the Elven Oracle of Life and the party's effort to protect Kyonin and the Oracle herself.  She represents the fragility, grace, and beauty to Elven society.  Don't fret; as yet you don't really know much about the legend of the Oracle of Life.

Each book requires the party to complete two Key Goals before the next book can begin.  Secondary goals may or may not support key goals.

The Books as known to the campaign players are:

Prologue
Book 1:  Rookwarden

Prologue (Completed)

Note that this information is copied from the Book 1 Player Primer document found here.

The Oracle of Life prologue introduced Warpstone, the presence of which in Razmir's special forces could give him immense power with which to threaten Kyonin.  The Prologue covered the last few days of the month of Pharast and the first few days of Gozran (4670).

The prologue also introduced the players to the harsh conditions created by the winter of 4669-4670, now known as “The Winter of Need” and the political backdrop and maneuverings of the major powers influencing the River Kingdoms.  To wit:

Razmir had established a headquarters in Xer, and gathered an army of cultists, mercenaries, and a rumored phalanx of mindless thralls.  His forces marched on (and in Book 1 would conquer) Shoreside, a port city on Lake Encarthen, and the de facto capital of what remains of the Dutchy of Melcat.  (Note that the Dutchy of Melcat was the river kingdom from which Razmir had taken most of his lands.)

A food shortage caused by harsh winter conditions affected all River Kingdoms that winter (and its effects are still a major factor in Book 1).  This was compounded by Razmir's warfare, an increase in banditry and marauding monsters, and also the upheaval of trade interests throughout the Inner Sea caused by the rift between Cheliax and rebelling Andoran. Last, the Kyonin spy network received word from Whispertruth of refugees claiming to be from Rookwarden, who were wounded by Warpstone leading to speculation that Rookwarden was producing Warpstone.  By the time the party arrived, the lone refugee to arrive at Whispertruth had died of his wounds, which were confirmed as being from Warpstone.

The party proceeded to Daggermark, under orders from Kyonin’s spy agency (which I might name at some point…) to establish a front business and gather information operating as three Elven diplomats.
