Magic Stones

Several types of magic stones exist in the campaign which have special properties.  They can be considered consummable magic items.

Warpstone, while a type of stone with deadly and magical properties, is not a player-usable resource.  Its existence drives the campaign story.

Obelisk Stones are similar in function to Elven Gateways, transporting people to far-off places and dimensions.

Moonstones

Cost: Unavailable

Weight: Negligible

Use: Activate as a standard action (no AoO).

Area Effect: 15-foot radius

Save: No (healing)

Effect:  (1 use) Channel X(d6) positive energy.  Special.

Moonstones are a unique creation of the Elven Oracle of the Moon.  Because only one Moonstone can be created by the Oracle each year, Moonstones are extremely rare.  On the evening of the summer solstice, the Oracle creates a pebble imbued with her healing energy.

As a standard action, a Moonstone can be used (without creating an attack of opportunity) to release the healing properties within.  Doing so creates a wave of positive energy that heals X(d6) to all creatures (normally healed by positive energy) within a 15-foot radius of the wielder, where X is the total class levels of the wielder divided by two.

Wielders with the Selective Channeling feature can channel the energy normally.  Some special individuals without this feat learn to channel that energy as well.  Note that this energy cannot be used to harm creatures normally harmed by positive energy.

Soul Stones

Cost: NA

Weight: Negligible

Use: Activate as a standard action (no AoO).

Area Effect: Self only.

Save: No (healing)

Effect:  (1 use) Fast Healing X.  Special.

As a standard action, a Soul Stone can be used to give the wielder Fast Healing X (where X is determined by the power of the soul in the stone). Using a Soul Stone in this way consumes the spirit, destroying the Soul Stone in the process.

Soul Stones are objects which contain the bound spirit of an intelligent being.  They are typically created by outerplaner creatures (particularly Daemons) in a process similar to the Create Soul Gem spell (and they can be destroyed by the same means as a soul gem).  Because they involve capture of an intelligent spirit, occasionally spirits retain a spell or ability from its life and will use its ability on the wielder's behalf.  However, this is exceedingly rare and thought to be a function of the bound spirit's willingness to work on behalf of what it very well might consider an 'owner.'

Warpstone:

Warpstone plays a major part in the Oracle of Life story.  Warpstone is a mysterious crystal thought to have originated from fragments of the Starstone (the comet whose impact destroyed Azlant and created the Inner Sea itself) which broke off during its descent and somehow became corrupted.  Because Warpstone is incredibly rare, few races have even heard of it.  Even then, it had not been seen in more than two millenia, leading its existence to be considered myth. Its rumored power to corrupt stood as  forewarning against greed for power and wealth.

Elven history includes a few tomes on its insidious properties – it leaches life and health, killing most within a few days.  It has magical properties, but it is necromantic in nature.  The legends of the Dwarves claim that Warpstone created the Duergar themselves, and they say its malevolent power serves the dark ambitions of the Drow as well.  In 4667, Kyonin learned that forces loyal to Razmir were operating weapons powered by Warpstone, and since confirming that rumor, the Elves have pursued its possible source while maintaining the secret of its existence.

Obelisk Stones:

Within the Serpentspire Marshes, an Obelisk Stone was found, having been excavated by the Necromancer.  Using Warpstone to power 4 sconces that magically hung on the stone, the Necromancer created from the obelisk a magical portal to another location.  Whether that place was another dimension or terrestrial, it was clearly a lace far away - a seemingly frozen dungeon.

Sharing this information with the Dwarves and the Oracle of the Moon, research has begun into the stone's source and background.  This research has yet to reveal any information whatever.
