The Oracle of Life
A Pathfinder Home Campaign
Last Session Summary
For 07 June
(yup, it's been that long)
02 Desnus:
That morning, Sidfar Shoresinger & Door Doorud visit Vazrun's shop and overlook his wares. Doorud invited Vazrun to visit the shops in his Galton quarter to compare the offerings. Shoresinger advised the group that a Pathfinder Society agent named 'Raythen' had been involved in the assassination order taken out on Cerenthir. He said that Raythen was an agent for a secret society within the Pathfinder Society, known as the Shadow Lodge.
Shortly after their departure, Lothrien found a note conspicuously tucked into the bricks around the side of the shop. In it, a note from the same 'Raythen' requested that the group go to the open market area of the Galton District, where he would meet them and tell them about goings on in Daggermark.
In the afternoon, the group went to the Galton District, where they met 'Raythen,' and he discussed the two-fold problem affecting Daggermark. First, that Demitri Pietri had accumulated considerable wealth and power for himself, as well as loyalty from the cavalry. Second, that the Pathfinder Lodge in Daggermark is entirely corrupt and operated for the sole benefit of Sidfar Shoresinger. Raythen then departed, saying he was leaving Daggermark and headed downriver for the Five Kingdoms.
Shortly therafter, N'Kiir's naivite was exploited when agents (presumably from Razmir based on evidence found thereafter) ambushed the group via a "warpstone zombie" - a body seemingly animated by warpstone but with no life to it whatever, which exploded when N'Kiir got too close. In the resulting combat, the party defeated an evil cleric, who channeled negative energy mercilessly. And an assassin attacked Cerenthir, but when he was incapacitated by the group via magic, he fled and successfully escaped.
03 Desnus:
The day began quietly, with Dubalaney Gore visiting the house, and ordering Tax Officer Lothrien to visit the Temple of Brigh where he was to obtain from the Drumans by any means necessary their fair portion of taxes. When there, the Drumans offered Lothrien and his friends exclusive access to cold iron if they would only see the rationale of discounting taxes on the temple. Ultimately, the Drumans did the better of the bargaining, obtaining a hefty discount on taxes. However, if the relationship is properly cultivated, a source of rare metals may become available to the allies of Andoran.
Around lunch-time, while Cerenthir was visiting the site of his tavern (in-renovation) he stumbled upon a curiously dressed gnome, who then inquired about the fire which had destroyed the prior structure at the site. Suspicious, Cerenthir and the gnome (named Blister) conversed until Cerenthir was sure he was truthful. Blister, it turned out, wanted to meet with Vazrun, someplace out of the way, to talk about their mutual interests. Blister made it known that he would be available at lunch-time over the next few days in the Grove over by the low-temple district.
As evening set to night, all group members retired in the Elves' home, and in the middle of the evening, N'Kiir detected intruders, and wakened the group to investigate. Descending the stairs, a group of robbers was interrupted as they pilfered a display case of jewelry. In a short fight, the burglars created enough smoke and confusion that all four of them (3 halflings and a humanoid) were able to flee with some of Vazrun's trade goods. Investigating for clues after they had escaped, the group found indications that the burglars were pathfinder agents who benefitted from some type of augery spell which went undetected in the display room.
The group began to plan their next move, knowing that the Pathfinder Society is at least involved in the burglary, and that Razmiran is probably involved in the ambush.
