Loric Fells in Book 1

Immediately after the Spring Planting Festival, those loyal to Kyonin (the Stonegutters and Andorans) helped secret the wounded Oracle of the Moon into the Undermark.  Brother Narael Twice-Born brought his personal sloop 'the River Rat' (up-stream during high water, it should be noted...) to the High Harbor.  There the party's allies staged the departure of an imposter Oracle.  The story told was that the wounded Oracle of the Moon returned to recuperate in Kyonin, and will journey southward once able.

The truth is that she is gravely wounded by Warpstone, and despite this, refuses to depart for Kyonin. Her stubborness rivals Signy in her desire to learn what happened at Rookwarden, and specifically to Haster.

Aeryn and Haster's reconnaissance brought them close enough to Rookwarden to recognize it was no longer controlled by dwarves.  Ratlings and Beastmen roamed the valley of the settlement in plain sight, a sure sign of the Dwarves' fate.  Trying to better position himself to scout the outer village and cavern entrance, Hester had transformed into an eagle but was struck down by a devestating magical attack.  Using scrying magic, Aeryn saw that Haaster, returned to form, and was taken unconscious into the caverns of Rookwarden by seemingly humanoid hands.

Recenctly the Oracle shared with the party the existence of the secret entrance to Rookwarden, accessed from one of the mesas nearby and west of the main river valley entrance.  While not in direct communication with the government in Kyonin, she implores the party to mount another expedition to the Loric Fells to find the secret entrance, and believes that the source of the Warpstone may be inside the caverns.

Of course, its existence is marked on no known map.  And the Loric Fells, along with most of northern and eastern areas of the River Kingdoms are teeming with monsters in search of food.  Finding the secret entrance to Rookwarden will likely require several expeditions into the Loric Fells and perhaps a base of operations.

Whatever is going on in Rookwarden, it stands to reason that it involves warpstone.
