Aeryn, Elven Oracle of the Moon
The current Oracle of the Moon is 750 years old, and has never lived in Sovyrian. Formally, all four of the Elven Oracles are referred to simply by their title as Oracle. Her familiar title in higher conversation is Sister Luna, and that is how most people refer to her. Her informal name, Aeryn, is known to only those with whom she is quite comfortable (among whom is Signy Arunsdottur, with whom she is a Contact), and usually only when in informal settings.
Her official Elven duty is as caretaker of the calendar, and orator of ancient (i.e., pre-Earthfall) Elven history. She is the Matriarch of the temple of Desna within Kyonin though her travelling makes this title mostly honorific; her primary duties to Desna take place away from her homeland. She is one of the prime matriarchs of the church of Desna in greater Avistan (the
northern continent of the Inner Sea). There are rumors that she is touched by Pharasma to see the fates of many whom she meets, but if she does, none can claim to have had his revealed.
As a matriarch of Desna, she is almost always travelling, which she prefers to do on foot, either alone or with one or two companions. Since the civil wars in Cheliax escalated to include devils and diabolists, it has been necessary for Sister Luna to avoid those lands for the past 30 years. She has spent much of the last decade travelling the Selen river and its estuaries. It is in this capacity that she has become a friend to Signy Arunsdottur, her “beautifully unique dwarf friend”, as she introduces Signy.
The Oracle of the Moon is as detached from the Queen’s court as much as any Elf outside of Kyonin can be, and is seen as a-political. In the last year she has travelled often between Andoran and Galt and has been seen more than anyone can remember within her ancient homeland of Kyonin. She has also staked a personal claim to a small boat-house in Riverton, where she is an honored guest of the Brother Mayor Narael Twice-Born. She is soft-spoken, quick to laugh, and affable to everyone she meets.
Party Relationship: Friendly.
Contact Information: Turstworthy
Special: Personal (dear) friend to Signy Arunsdottur.
Common Locations Found: Riverton is her primary focus geographically. She has spent almost all of the bitter cold winter of 4669-4670 there, assisting the dire need of the town and the travelers it supports. In warmer periods, she wanders often for weeks at a time, generally returning to Riverton within 30-60 days.
Inquisitor Jude, Watcher of Kyonin's Enemies
Inquisitor Jude is a mystery to everyone but the Queen herself. The nature of her position governs how she sees the world and her Elven kin. She is the Queen’s chief intelligence officer, though she has no other title than “Inquisitor.” Her office has no particular name. But where she goes, she commands attention and obedience from all. She is universally regarded as a stalwart protector of Kyonin’s Elves, as both humorless and tireless in pursuit of her homeland’s defense. She commands an intelligence network that Razmir himself would envy, with a quarter of the footprint and (practically) none of the brutality. Most of her agents are unknown and unseen. Some, like Lothrien (Junior Inquisitor, Tier 1) are visible actors on her behalf, endowed with resources and with judicial empowerment extended by Queen Telandia Edasseril herself.
Inquisitor Jude is almost 7 feet tall, lithe and graceful. Laconic in her discussions in most circumstances, some have seen her let her hair down (figuratively as well as literally) where she enjoys superior grade wines, public readings of her favorite literary works, and archery contests. Even then, she seldom laughs.
Where Jude becomes an almost different person is for Elven holidays. On each of the observed holidays, she can be counted on to arrive in a custom gown from one of the Elves’ greatest designers (and occasionally something even more exotically sourced), wear her hair down, and reveal ample amounts of her pale skin. During these, she dances freely, smiles abundantly, and embraces those in whom she has history. Whatever she does after hours on such evenings, the Overseer of Enemies abides no rumors about herself, or by some miracle, behaves in such a way as to create none.
Party Relationship: Friendly.
Contact Information: Turstworthy
Special: Employer of Lothrien
Common Locations Found: Greengold and Iadara are her primary focus geographically. She can be found almost anywhere within Kyonin, but most of her work in the last decade has stretched from Greengold to the confluences of the Selen river, as Razmir is the entity about whom the least is known. She is trained in riding of flying mounts, including a giant eagle and a gryphon, so her mobility is unheralded without teleportation magic.
