Character Creation:

PCs will be part of a Kyonin-aligned group, who, in the course of becoming exposed to the campaign story, will be forced to adventure in a world dominated by humans.  Most humans never travel further than 15 miles from their homes during their lifetime, are rarely literate but often superstitious and fearful of outsiders, and are usually prejudiced against non-humans (less so for half-elfs/half-orcs in their local human cultures). 

 

By contrast, player characters are exceptionally capable by birth (for reasons you should relate in your character background), have an aptitude for learning, and who because of these talents are developed and honed by an influence either personal or environmental (again, your background to create) to be powerful specimens of their kind.  All PCs must be of Good alignment and have a reason to loyally support the Emerald Queen of Kyonin.

 

While all character creation rules are maleable (I want you to love your character), I do appreciate it if players create characters of your same gender.  If you wish to play opposite gender character, please contact GM.

Ability Scores

Players will purchase ability scores using the Epic Fantasy Campaign Type (page 16 of CRB) with the following limitation.  PCs may only decrease one stat at all, and this one can be reduced from 10 no less than 8 (prior to any racial adjustments).  This is meant to emphasize that you are epic in every way compared to the humans around Kyonin.

 

PCs may select two traits from the APG.  Traits outside of the APG will be considered upon request.  For those interested, Story-line traits would be welcome in this campaign (see Pathfinder Ultimate Campaign).  Story-line traits will not count against the two traits previously mentioned.  Limit one Story-line trait; please ensure you communicate the intention to pursue a story-line trait to the GM (and include some details in your backstory).

Other PC Statistics

Players throughout the campaign will get maximum HP per level.  Beware: combats will be suitably challenging.

 

Players are welcome to create their characters any age they wish, without impact on ability scores.  Players will each receive 250 gold to spend on items in the equipment sections of the CRB and APG (only) (no magic items without prior discussion with GM).  Players will also receive a mount, combat trained (only) if the PC takes at least 1 rank in Ride.  See GM regarding unusual mounts.

 

In addition, based on each player’s character background, the epic players in my campaign will each receive an heirloom or sentimental object that will substantively improve their character’s performance at first level.  But players will not know what this item will be until the campaign begins (you can refund any redundant equipment previously purchased).

Player Background Story

 

Each player should create a 750-1,000 word character background story (and more is acceptable as well).  These backgrounds will be used to develop plot points of the campaign, either near-term or long-term or both.  In addition, they help all involved to create a role-playing mindset.  Further, the information you provide will be rewarded in the form of an 'heirloom' or background-related special item to begin the campaign at first level.  Each player who completes a character background will receive a bonus at first level (selected by GM after reading your background).  If you feel you are not up to that task, but are a strong enough role-player, I can write a background for you (working alone or in conjunction with you).

Player Contact NPC

 

This campaign will use the rules for Contacts in Pathfinder Ultimate Campaign.  In your character background, you are encouraged to relate an NPC of any kind and your character's relationship to that NPC.  This NPC will have been in your character's past, but is no longer in your character's present at the start of my campaign.  You are welcome to explain why the NPC is no longer in your immediate life (even going so far as saying he died).  Suffice it to say the character will return in a position to be helpful to you and your party (and he can be trusted), but the where, when, and why is up to me.
